Retail continues to undergo a rapid transformation, driven by three often interrelated forces: the rise of digital transparency, the expansion of discount retailing, and the growing expectation of convenience (through delivery for general merchandise, mainly through proximity stores for grocery).

Retail disruptors such as Amazon, Aldi, Apple, Primark, and (soon?) Alibaba are changing consumer expectations. In consequence, across all sectors, retail customers are increasingly demanding of value, whether through outstandingly good choice of well-designed products or through attractively low prices, as well as inspiration and/or ease of access in their retail experiencesRetailers who lag behind in these are soon abandoned by their customers.

The right response to these forces includes but goes well beyond digital strategy alone. To thrive retailers and brands must, more than ever, present a truly differentiated or uniquely-low cost offer through an array of channels and formats which allows consumers to choose, on each occasion, how they wish to be served.

Retailers must rethink not just their distribution channels, but also their offer strategy and value chains and, perhaps most importantly of all, the underlying infrastructure, skills, and culture of their businesses.

Given the growing complexity and pace of change in today’s retail environment, retailers must find ways to encourage well-informed customer-centric decision-making at all levels of the enterprise. In other words, they must become more entrepreneurial, more nimble, and more adaptive.

Our conference will explore these themes. Join us to:

  • Understand how retailers are responding to these challenges
  • Hear expert retail industry speakers share their knowledge and experience
  • Connect with other senior executives from the UK’s and Europe’s leading retailers
