Chequers Court Shopping Centre provides the retail gateway between the traditional High Street in Huntingdon and St Germain Walk. Chequers Court is fully pedestrianised and opens out on to an expansive deck area, often the host to Town Centre activities.

Project

The Churchmanor Estates Company engaged Javelin Group to assess the trading potential of extending Chequers Court Shopping Centre in Huntingdon, designed to attract new high quality retailers to the town centre.

Outputs

Javelin Group reviewed the shopping centre’s trading potential by:

  • Assessing how Huntingdon’s catchment area would grow post-extension
  • Profiling the catchment area
  • Estimating scheme sales and sustainable rent
  • Identifying appropriate benchmark locations and comparing KPI’s

Robin Bevan runs our Locations & Analytics practice. He has over 25 years’ experience in retail property, including location strategies for retailers, geographic channel strategies for brands, shopping centre strategies for developers and owners, due diligence for private equity investors and commercial space planning for travel hub operators, and has wide international experience, having worked in 20 countries. Robin also leads our Ignite m-commerce initiative, which brings digital into the heart of the physical environment (e.g. shops, shopping centres, travel hubs). A PPE graduate from Oxford University, Robin contributed recently as part of the industry taskforce which published the influential Beyond Retail report for central government.
