A senior locations consultant works with Javelin Group retail clients to develop their location strategies and with developer clients to optimise shopping centre performance as part of Javelin Group's locations practice.
Projects are typically 1-2 months in duration, with a combination of on-site and office-based work. A consultant will normally work as part of a 2-4 person team, under director leadership.
Role
- Day-to-day management responsibility for the effective delivery of Location Strategy projects to retailer clients
- Day-to-day management of SHOPSCORE (a biennial benchmarking exercise with high industry profile)
- Occasional involvement in Shopping Centre Evaluation projects as workload requires
- Contribution to projects in the area of Commercial Due Diligence (where our client base is made up of investors in the retail sector) where expansion plans are a key element of the business plan we have been asked to review
- Working alongside the Practice Area director (Robin Bevan) to identify, develop and execute a marketing strategy to underpin the development of Javelin Group's emerging position in the area of Store Performance Analysis & Location Strategy
- Report-writing and presentation of findings to clients
- Ability to develop and present effective project proposals to prospective clients
Person specification
- Graduate (2.1 or higher), ideally in business or geography-related degree, ideally from a leading university
- 2-4 years professional experience in relevant positions (e.g. retail or consulting)
- Evidence of strong analytical skills combined with good basic maths skills
- Friendly and outgoing personality (demonstrating evidence of ability to mix effectively with executives at all levels)
- Strong presentation skills
- Clean driving licence
- Experience and aptitude for Microsoft programmes (PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Access)
- Familiarity with any GIS (e.g. MapInfo) or statistics packages (e.g. SPSS, SAS)
- English mother tongue (fluency in other languages a real advantage)
