Our environment is entirely meritocratic. You will be judged on the quality of your work rather than on your age or experience. Under the oversight of an experienced director, our consultants take responsibility for delivering their own work, often becoming subject matter experts within their alloted projects and presenting to the client team.
Alongside this responsibility comes considerable freedom: while we encourage working from the office to benefit from the expertise of others, colleagues are given the freedom to plan their own time and there is no requirement to work long hours for the sake of it (although there will be times when extra hours are required to meet deadlines).
We have a strong culture of learning and you can always ask questions - everyone is happy to help. Learning is not just for the graduates either. We hold weekly “Javelin University” sessions, in which people from all teams present to the rest of the company in an informal setting. Topics include recent projects, updates on new developments in retailing and workshops on essential consulting skills.
Our informal working environment is helped by having an open plan office. Directors and consultants sit together and nobody is hidden behind an office door, ensuring that everybody is available and approachable.
We have an active social calendar, which includes a wide variety of events. There are regular organised activities such as bowling and paintball, and we have also formed teams for various charity events including a swimathon and an “It’s a knockout” style tournament. And of course there is always a group to be found in a local pub on a Friday night.
