Jumbo Supermarkten launches online shopping via Jumbo.com, designed and implemented by Javelin Group.

London, 17 November 2014. The Netherlands’ second largest grocery retailer, Jumbo Supermarkten, has launched Jumbo.com offering customers online grocery shopping for the first time. The website and all associated operations and technologies were defined, designed and implemented by Javelin Group, Europe’s leading retail strategy consultancy and systems integrator.

Jumbo.com customers can now order online for next-day pick up from dedicated pick up points and selected Jumbo Supermarkten stores. The online shop launched last week and the first orders have been successfully processed and collected.


Javelin Group was engaged by Jumbo Supermarkten to define, design and implement a new online grocery business 22 months ago including an ecommerce fulfilment centre (or dark store), in-store pick up, dedicated pick up points, and customer services. The Javelin Group team implemented all of the key systems including a website built on the Intershop platform, a PIM (Informatica), a warehouse management system, a bespoke order management system (which also includes pick-up and delivery slot management, and in-store and pick-up point functionality replacing the need for a POS system), and customer service functionality on both Intershop and OMS.
