Press Release

Javelin Group appoints Richard F Wolff as Director of International Retail in newly created role.

Richard_F_WolffLondon, 1 December 2011. Javelin Group, Europe’s leading retail and omni-channel consultancy, has appointed Richard F Wolff to the new role of Director of International Retail. He will lead a new International Retail practice, which will complement the existing ecommerce and multi-channel retail practices in Strategy, Operations, Technology and Locations.

The new International Retail practice will help retailers plan and implement their international expansion into new territories through the best combination of stores (owned or franchised), ecommerce and multi-channel.

Richard F Wolff brings a wealth of experience to the role following a career spanning 36 years at Marks & Spencer, most recently as Director of Marks & Spencer International where he was responsible for growing the number of stores to 250 across 30 countries with a highly profitable combined local turnover of half a billion pounds sterling. Under his direction Marks & Spencer opened stores in territories such as Russia, India, the Middle East, the Far East and Europe. Since then Richard has helped Pottery Barn/Williams-Sonoma, John Lewis, Godiva and many other retailers with their international expansion plans.

Tony Stockil, CEO, Javelin Group said: “Today’s most credible growth opportunities for retail CEOs are (1) ecommerce and multi-channel and (2) international. With the launch of our new International Retail practice, led by arguably the UK’s most experienced international retailer, we can now help our clients find profitable growth in both of these areas, even in this difficult market.”
